This is a very economical and easy way of achieving a coherent and designed look to your borders. Simply download and return the PDF questionnaire form and we will supply a list of plants, that will thrive in your specific border and all the information you need to keep it looking great all year round.

About this service

  • Complete the supplied PDF form, fill in and send to The Plot via post or email (postal instructions included).
  • The cost of this service is £2.50/m² of border or area to be planted.
  • We will put together for you a list of plants, information on preparation and planting, cultural advice and design notes, based on the information you provide us with.
  • Each plant specified will have a planting density so that you know how far apart to plant them.
  • You can choose from the list and group the plants as you wish, just follow the guidelines on planting density.
  • The plants specified will all be perennial plants, shrubs, and /or trees which will develop into a beautiful border over time and thrive in your garden because they have been selected for your specific site.
  • The plants we will select for you will be designed to look fabulous together, making it easy for you to achieve a stunning border.
  • If you require plants can be supplied by The Plot subject to availability.

Format 2 - The Hand Drawn Painting Plan

If you require a full hand drawn planting plan this option is for you. The service includes plant list and descriptions, cultural advice and design notes based on the information given in the questionnaire.

  • The cost of this service is £5.00/m² of border area to be planted.
  • We will hand draw your planting plan showing what plants go where and compile your plant list, information on preparation and planting, cultural advice and design notes, based on the information you provide us with.
  • The plants specified will all be perennial plants, shrubs and/ or trees which will develop into a beautiful border over time and thrive in your garden because they have been selected for your specific site.
  • The plants we will select for you will be designed to look fabulous together, making it easy for you to achieve a stunning border.
  • We will include details of how to look after your border throughout the year to keep it in tip top condition.
  • Plants can be supplied by The Plot where required subject to availability.

How to measure your border

The simplest way is to place garden canes at 2 metre intervals in a straight line parallel to the border or area to be planted. Measure off at 90° from each cane and write down the two measurements for the two edges of the border (see diagram) Mark on any features that you wish to keep or hedges and walls around the edge of the border.

To work out the cost of your planting plan, the length of the border multiplied by the average width will count as approximate m². Multiply this by £5 and that will be the amount payable for this service.
